Despite having the shortest odds to win it all for the majority of the season, the injury bug has haunted the Dodgers all season.
FOX Sports’ Ben Verlander slotted them No. 3 in his latest MLB power rankings.
“The Dodgers are reportedly aiming for “impact-type” players ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline, but the team’s depth behind the stars they have continues to erode. L.A.’s infield, already missing Mookie Betts and Max Muncy indefinitely, saw two more players hit the injured list [recently],” Verlander wrote. “The Dodgers are also without Freddie Freeman for the time being as he tends to a family emergency. The good news for L.A. is that rookie pitcher River Ryan has exceeded all expectations in his first two major-league starts, and the Dodgers also welcomed back current ace Tyler Glasnow and some guy named Clayton Kershaw from the injured list last week.”
