NFL Draft: Fantasy football outlook for Giants WR Malik Nabers

The New York Giants were reportedly all-in on quarterback Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft. Once he was selected No. 3 overall by the New England Patriots, New York pivoted to their biggest team need and selected LSU wide receiver Mailk Nabers. The former Tiger spent last season playing with the Heisman Trophy-winning Jayden Daniels and should bring an instant, much-needed boost to the Giants’ wide receiver room.

Nabers began his breakout in Daniels’ first season with LSU. He played in 14 games in 2022 and had 1,017 yards with three touchdowns. Nabers improved in his final collegiate season, picking up 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games last year. It remains to be seen how he will translate to the NFL, but it should only be a matter of time before he takes over as the No. 1 wide receiver for New York.

Malik Nabers’ supporting cast

Nabers should be a top target for quarterback Daniel Jones. He joins a wide receiver room of Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah McKenzie. Giants tight end Darren Waller is rumored to be retiring, and New York lost dual-threat running back Saquon Barkley to free agency. This is a fantastic landing spot for Nabers as long as Jones can be an effective passer this year. New York being so interested in a quarterback is a little concerning that they don’t have faith in Jones, but if he has a down year they can get out of his contract and Nabers will hopefully get a better option under center. Either way, the future is bright for this year’s No. 2 wide receiver.

Where should Malik Nabers rank among WRs in fantasy football?

Marvin Harrison Jr. is the top wide receiver in the class, and Nabers should be right behind him. Both rookies have upside and should be not only the top wide receivers taken in rookie drafts, but some of the top picks overall in rookie drafts. If Nabers can work his way into the No. 1 wide receiver role in New York he should be able to have some re-draft value. It will depend on what his ADP turns out to be, but drafting him to be a flex or WR3 would be a solid value in re-draft leagues.
