Former New York Giants offensive tackle Korey Cunningham was found dead at the age of 28 on Thursday.
A seventh-round pick with the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL draft, Cunningham spent one season in Arizona and two seasons with the New England Patriots (2019-2020) before joining the Giants for two seasons (2021-2022).
The team released a statement following the news:
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Korey Cunningham. He was a vital part of the spirit and camaraderie of the locker room. Our thoughts are with Korey’s family, friends and teammates.
The cause of death was not immediately released but police have not reported any signs of foul play in his death.
In his NFL career, Cunningham played 31 games and made six starts. He appeared in 13 games with the Giants, playing 121 offensive snaps.
