With the ever-growing T20 cricket around the globe, the demand for international players is also on the rise. To meet the demands, T20 franchises have started contracting players for multi-team deals, which reduces the burden on cricketers.
Texas Super Kings (TSK) for the upcoming edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 have announced the signing of New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Daryl Mitchell as their new overseas recruitment.
Apart from Mitchell, TSK also fields Kiwi and CSK stars Devon Conway, and Mitchell Santner in the MLC, providing a perfect example of cohesion between sister franchises. In a statement, Mitchell expressed his excitement over being part of the CSK family.
‘I’m really excited to be part of the Texas Super Kings’ – Daryl Mitchell
“I’m really excited to be part of the Texas Super Kings and to get to yellove again and be part of the CSK family. I think the cool thing about the MLC following the World Cup being in the West Indies and the America [is] the conditions should be pretty similar and hopefully we continue to adapt to the different conditions and get stuck in,” Daryl Mitchell.
CSK outbid other franchises in the IPL 2024 mini-auction and acquired the services of Mitchell for INR 14 crore, who previously played for Rajasthan Royals (RR). The 32-year-old had a stellar World Cup 2023 in India, and played several match-winning knocks for New Zealand over the past year.
Meanwhile, other notable additions for MLC 2024, were Romario Shepherd and Anrich Nortje, who have been picked up by defending champions MI New York. Interestingly, Shepherd will play for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
The second edition of MLC is due to start sometime in July 2024 after the conclusion of ICC T20 World Cup.
