Mets-Cardinals postponed, makeup set for middle of West Coast road trip
The Mets will not get a chance to go for a three-game sweep on Wednesday.
The Amazin’s scheduled matinee with the Cardinals was rained out after the Mets took the first two games of the series at Busch Stadium.
The teams will make up the game on a mutual off day on Aug. 5, which for the Mets, comes during the middle of a nine-game West Coast road trip.
The Mets play three games with the Angels from Aug. 2-4 before taking on the Cardinals for one.
They’ll go back west the next day to take on the Rockies for three games before closing out the road swing in Seattle for three more.
Wednesday marks the fifth time already this season that the Mets have been rained out.
Jose Quintana, who was supposed to start Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals, will now pitch Friday at Citi Field when the Mets begin a series with the Braves.
Rookie Christian Scott is slated to go Saturday with Luis Severino set for the Sunday finale.
