Jets Sign Fifth-Round Pick QB Jordan Travis

The Jets have signed QB Jordan Travis to his rookie contract.

Travis (6-1, 200), drafted in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft (No. 171 overall), threw for 20 touchdowns and 2 interceptions last season before he broke his leg in November.

The West Palm Beach, FL, native began his collegiate career at Louisville in 2018 but transferred to FSU after one season in which he redshirted. A two-year starter for the Seminoles, Travis is No. 2 in wins by a starting QB in school history (28-10). He also broke Chris Weinke’s school records with 99 total touchdowns 10,665 yards of total offense.

“I am a playmaker,” Travis said. “I would say that is the main thing. I make plays when everything breaks down. I am just a baller, I am a competitor. Every single time I get on the field, I want to dominant the guy across from me and a winner that is main thing for me. Throughout my career, I fell in love with winning so much and I hate losing so I will do everything in my power to win.”

Travis threw for 8,644 yards, 65 touchdowns and 19 interceptions at Florida State in 46 games (38 starts). He became the first Seminoles QB with three wins against Miami and finished his career with 17 straight wins as he led FSU to an undefeated season in the 2023 season.

“Jordan is a dynamic player,” GM Joe Douglas said. “Obviously a tough injury for him and the team last year, but dynamic player. He came on a top-30 visit. Just getting a chance to spend time with him and get to know him as a as a person, he’s a special guy. You can see why teammates gravitate towards him and why he’s one of the more respected guys when you talk to other players at Florida State.”

“He’s coming to a great situation with some unbelievable veteran leadership. … Really cool opportunity for him to learn, develop and just showcase his ability.”

Douglas told reporters the team doctors believe Travis will return to play some point this year, but wasn’t sure if that would be in time for training camp.

“We’ll see how the rest of the return to play protocol [goes],” he said. “Just looking at some of the videos of his workouts, watching him move around, he’s progressing well.”

Travis joins a room with 32 NFL seasons of experience between Aaron Rodger and Tyrod Taylor.

“I can’t wait to meet Aaron and Tyrod and just pick their brains every single day,” Travis said. “See how they treat their teammates, how they carry themselves off the field, on the field and just learn the things. I freaking can’t wait.”
