10 November 2024: New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers
American football will return to the Allianz Arena on 10 November 2024: now the second team, the New York Giants, has been confirmed following the Carolina Panthers, who will be the official home team in Munich. Kick-off will be at 15:30 CEST. More details on the event and ticket sales can be found at www.nfl.com/munich.
Michael Diederich, executive vice chairman of FC Bayern: “FC Bayern is pleased that the NFL is stopping off at Munich’s Allianz Arena again this year. The game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 was the first time an event unconnected to football took place, and it was a big, internationally recognised success. We’re building on that this year. We look forward to the visit from the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants.”
Dr Alexander Steinforth, general manager of NFL Germany: “We will continue the successful series of NFL games in Germany with the game between the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers in Munich on 10 November. The growing number of NFL fans can look forward to outstanding football and entertainment for the third year in a row. We are very grateful to our partners, FC Bayern, the City of Munich and the German Football League (DFL), that we will jointly organise another [American] football highlight in Munich for NFL fans after the debut in 2022.”
Dieter Reiter, mayor of the City of Munich: “We’re looking forward to the return of the NFL to Munich. The debut in 2022 brought a lot of visitors from around the world to Munich. For many NFL fans, and also for us as the City of Munich, it was emotional and unforgettable. The NFL game enriches the offering in our city and we’re therefore once again looking forward to welcoming the many fans and guests from all over the world to Munich for a weekend.”
The NFL touched down on German soil for the first time at Munich’s Allianz Arena in autumn 2022. In the NFL Munich Game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with their quarterback star Tom Brady won 21-16 against the Seattle Seahawks. Brady described it afterwards as “one of the great football experiences I’ve ever had”. One particularly memorable moment was when 70,000 fans in the sold-out stands were signing “Sweet Caroline” for minutes.
It wasn’t just the game that the visitors kept in their memory. Before kick-off, German rapper Cro got the crowd going, while a fan event with numerous activities and challenges took place on the esplanade outside the Arena. The City of Munich was gripped by NFL fever for days, for example with events on Odeonsplatz and fan gatherings in some of the most well-known pubs in the Bavarian capital.
