TE Theo Johnson, Giants’ 4th-round draft pick, signs rookie contract

Tight end Theo Johnson, the Giants’ fourth-round draft pick, has signed his rookie contract.

The Giants selected Johnson with the No. 107 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-6, 259-pound tight end out of Penn State finished with 12 career touchdown receptions, good for a tie for 16th all-time in school history and third among Nittany Lion tight ends.

Johnson appeared in 44 career games and made 29 starts. He posted 77 career receptions for 938 yards and the 12 touchdowns.

“It’s really exciting for me because I think I have a super high ceiling,” Johnson told the media at rookie minicamp. “I think I haven’t even scratched the surface of what I’m capable of. I’m really looking forward to proving every day that I’m out here.”

After starting all 13 games last season, Johnson was voted an All-Big Ten honorable mention honoree by the coaches and media after he finished with 34 catches for 341 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named a team captain during fall camp.

“He’s smart,” coach Brian Daboll said at rookie minicamp. “He’s a young professional, a true pro, loves the game. Has good size. Can bend. Can run. Obviously tested really well. But had a really good pro day, too, at Penn State, moving around, running his routes, hitting the bag. You can only get so much out of it. You can tell his bend, you can tell he’s athletic. He’s a good guy we thought we could work with.”
