New York Giants OTAs: Takeaways from Day 3 | Sporting News

The New York Giants were on the field Thursday continuing OTAs following a day off.

While the media wasn’t allowed to watch the first two sessions of OTAs, they were on the field for Thursday’s practice.

Because of inclement weather, the Giants had to take the practice indoors. However, they were still able to get plenty of work in.

We went through a quick roundup of the news and notes, but now it’s time for the bigger takeaways from Day 3 of OTAs.

Giants’ OTAs: Takeaways from Day 3

Daniel Jones updates

The Giants’ starting quarterback was on the field again taking part in 7-on-7 drills. He looked pretty smooth coming off a torn ACL. Jones himself said he has no doubt he will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. Whether that’s the case remains to be seen, but it’s encouraging to see the progress he’s made.

No Darius Slayton or Darren Waller

There still will be competition but unless the Giants bring someone in from free agency,  Flott will be a starter in the secondary.

Starting offensive line taking shape?

There are plenty of question marks surrounding the Giants offensive line, but we may have gotten a glimpse of what the starting unit looks like. Even without Andrew Thomas, who did not get reps during 11-on-11 drills, the starting offensive line seems to feature Thomas at left tackle, Jermaine Elumuenor at right guard, John Michael Schmitz at center, Jon Runyan at right guard and Evan Neal at right tackle.
