As Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 reaches its conclusion, the focus shifts to ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June. The marquee ICC event will see the return of several international stars who have made a significant impact in the IPL.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, co-hosted by USA and West Indies, begins from June 2nd onwards.
Rohit Sharma-led India’s first match in T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled for June 5 against Ireland at the newly built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Following this, the much-awaited India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match takes place on June 9 at the same venue.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024: When will team India depart for USA, West Indies?
The first batch of the Indian cricket team is expected to depart for USA on May 25 to participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. This group includes players not involved in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Final on Sunday (May 26). Players who are part of IPL 2024 Final will reportedly depart for USA on Monday (May 27), a day after Sunday’s summit clash.
A BCCI source told PTI, “Players like Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel will join the rest of the team and support staff on May 25 and will leave for New York together.”
Despite being the most consistently performing team in ICC tournaments over the past decade, the Indian cricket team has not secured an ICC trophy in the last 11 years. The last time India won an ICC trophy was the Champions Trophy, back in 2013.
