Casa Creed breezes for Poker, is 1 of 16 graded winners on tab
Working for his next start on the Belmont Stakes undercard,
four-time Grade 1 winner Casa Creed breezed Monday morning at Saratoga.
The 8-year-old earner of
$2,670,308 worked in company to the inside of maiden Timeout on the Oklahoma
training track shortly after 9:30 a.m. EDT. New York Racing Association
clockers caught them through splits of 12.87, 24.64 and through a half-mile in
48.02 seconds before galloping out in 1:01.25 on the fast-rated surface.

“(Casa Creed) was very, very,
very good,” Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott said.
Owned by sports-talk icon Mike Francesa and his racing partner Lee Einsidler under the names LRE Racing and JEH
Racing Stable, the son of Jimmy Creed is expected to race in the Grade 3,
$350,000 Poker Stakes going one mile on June 8 at Saratoga. The past three
years Casa Creed ran in the six-furlong Jaipur (G1) at Belmont Park, delivering
victories in 2021 and 2022 and a third-place result in 2023.
Resilience, the Wood Memorial
(G2) winner, also was on the Monday tab for Mott. Posted his first work since
finishing sixth in the Kentucky Derby, he worked solo through splits of 13.32,
26.29 and a half-mile in 50.45 seconds before galloping out in 1:04.20.
“I’m trying to figure out what’s
next,” Mott said about the 3-year-old Into Mischief colt owned by Emily
Bushnell and Ric Waldman.

Casa
Creed (Jimmy Creed), a four-time Grade 1 winner,
worked four furlongs in 48.0 seconds at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the fastest of seven
works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs
at Saratoga. In his last start he placed sixth in the Al Quoz Sprint (G1) going
about six furlongs on the turf at Meydan on March 30 for trainer Bill Mott.
Exaulted (Twirling Candy), a Grade 1 winner (2023
Shoemaker Mile), worked five furlongs in 59.4 seconds at Santa Anita. It was
the second fastest of 18 works at the distance. His previous work was seven
days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second
in the Del Mar Mile (G2) going one mile on the turf at Del Mar on Sept. 2 for
trainer Peter Eurton.
Gun Pilot (Gun Runner), a Grade 1 winner (2024
Churchill Downs), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Churchill Downs. It was the
sixth fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days
ago going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he won the
Churchill Downs (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs
on May 4 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Society (Gun Runner), a Grade 1 winner (2022
Cotillion), worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Churchill Downs. It was the third
fastest of six works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago
going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she placed fourth in
the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint going seven furlongs on the main
track at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for Asmussen.
Stronghold (Ghostzapper), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Santa
Anita Derby), worked three furlongs in 37.4 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the
18th fastest of 28 works at the distance. This was his first work since his
last race. In his last start he placed seventh in the Kentucky Derby going 1
1/4 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 4 for trainer Phil
D’Amato.
Newgrange (Violence), a three-time Grade 2 winner
(2024 San Pasqual, 2023 San Antonio, 2023 San Pasqual), worked five furlongs in
59.8 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the second fastest of 37 works at the
distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa
Anita. In his last start he placed sixth in the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) going
1 1/4 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on March 3 for D’Amato.
Red Route One (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2024 New
Orleans Classic), worked four furlongs in 51.8 seconds at Churchill Downs. It
was the 13th fastest of 14 works at the distance. This was his first work since
his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in the Pimlico Special (G3)
