New York Giants injury updates from second week of OTAs | Sporting News
With the New York Giants concluding the second week of organized team activities (OTA), there were a few injury updates to note.
Because the Giants don’t have to release an injury report for practice until the regular season begins, it’s difficult to know exactly what injuries players are dealing with and how serious they are.
Due to the voluntary nature of the offseason workout program, this also makes it difficult to gauge the injury statuses of several players.

Even so, we did receive a few updates on a handful of injured Giants players from the second week of OTAs.
Giants injury updates from second week of OTAs
WR Gunner Olszewski
Maybe the most recent injury, Olszewski slipped during Thursday’s practice and wound up limping off the field. It isn’t clear what exactly the injury is, but it apparently looked like an ankle or foot injury. Olszewski did not return to practice after leaving.
RT Evan Neal
The third-year tackle has dealt with injuries since being drafted as the No. 7 overall pick in 2022. He dealt with an MCL injury during the 2023 regular season and ended his campaign after discovering a fracture in his left ankle. Neal had surgery on that ankle this offseason and has been working his way back.
Neal was the starting right tackle during walkthroughs but when it came time for team drills, he didn’t participate.
Returning to practice
After not being spotted during the first week of OTAs, tight end Daniel Bellinger and defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches returned to practice for Thursday’s OTA session.
Working on the side
Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted that wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie (undisclosed), wide receiver Dennis Houston (undisclosed), outside linebacker Benton Whitley (foot/ankle), linebacker Isaiah Simmons (undisclosed) and cornerback Aaron Robinson (knee) worked on the side with trainers during Thursday’s practice.
Simmons is the biggest name on that list and is likely the only lock for the roster. Robinson could compete for a depth role, but the rest of that list are roster bubble players.
Not spotted at practice
Tight end Darren Waller remains away from the team as he considers retirement and working on a new album apparently. Tight end Tyree Jackson (undisclosed), defensive lineman Jordan Phillips (undisclosed) and defensive lineman Timmy Horne (knee) were not spotted at Thursday’s practice for the second week in a row.
