The winners of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes will race in the 2024 Belmont Stakes alongside eight other horses.

Derby winner Mystik Dan will compete in all three legs of the Triple Crown despite falling short at the Preakness three weeks ago.

Seize The Grey will try to win his second Triple Crown race after finding the winners’ circle at the Preakness.

The 10-horse field also includes Derby pre-race favorite Sierra Leone and three others horses that competed at Churchill Downs last month.

The field is determined for the Belmont, but the post positions will not be confirmed until Monday evening.

Mystik Dan, Seize The Grey and Sierra Leone should be the three most-talked about horses in the buildup to the Belmont.

Mystik Dan came out of nowhere to win the Derby and put in a respectable second-place showing at the Preakness.

Seize The Grey was the better horse than Mystik Dan at the Preakness, and if he duplicates that race, he should be in great shape to win the Belmont.

Sierra Leone entered Triple Crown season as one of the favorites to not just win the Derby, but to chase after three straight race victories.

One of the pre-race Derby favorites ended up second in the Derby to continue a run of five straight first-or-second-place finishes.

Sierra Leone has always been in contention to win races he has entered in. That is what makes him such a dangerous horse to compete against.

Resilience, Dornoch and Honor Marie are the other three Derby participants in the Belmont field. They finished sixth, 10th and eighth, respectively, at Churchill Downs at the start of May.

Antiquarian, The Wine Steward and Protective finished in that order at the Peter Pan Stakes in early May.

The 2023 Belmont winner, Arcangelo, won the Peter Pan a month before his triumph at Belmont Park.

Mindframe is the only horse in the field without significant racing experience, but he has an all-star crew behind him in trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.
