Virat Kohli, the talismanic Indian batter, started preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup with a rigorous net session in New York. This marks Kohli’s first training session in the US ahead of the highly anticipated World Cup.
Usually, there is a lot of buzz when the Indian team is at a cricket ground, but in the video shared by the BCCI, there was hardly any buzz in New York.
Kohli had a long stint with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav. However, the pitches seemed a bit up and down, and Rohit seemed slightly unhappy with it.
Kohli was seen putting in a dedicated effort at the nets, looking to regain his peak form.
Kohli dedicated much of his net session to honing his off-side strokes. This deliberate focus on a specific aspect of his game could be a strategic move aimed at addressing potential technical deficiencies or countering specific deliveries he may face in the upcoming matches.
Earlier, having travelled for 16 hours to reach the US, Kohli could not take part in India’s first practice session. He had checked in at the hotel and decided to rest.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been making headlines for a different reason.
After dishing out the no-look shot against Bangladesh in the first practice match, Pant was seen practicing his signature no-look shot, a manoeuvre known for its audacity and flair.
Pant’s ability to play unconventional shots, often under pressure, has become a hallmark of his aggressive batting style.
This glimpse into his training session suggests he’s perfecting his technique to ensure these high-risk, high-reward shots continue to pay off.
