Delta will begin offering premium economy on flights between New York JFK and Los Angeles in September.
JFK-LAX will be the lone domestic deployment of Delta Premium Select, as the airline calls its premium economy cabin. The carrier will offer the cabin on four of its 11 daily flights between those markets, using newly refurbished Boeing 767-400ER aircraft.
Premium Select seats on the 767s offer 38 inches between rows (pitch) and seven inches of recline, according to the website Aerolopa. That compares to the 32 inches of pitch the aircrafts offer in standard economy seat and 34 inches in the extra-legroom Comfort Plus seats.

The 767 Premium Select cabin is configured in a six-across formation, compared to the seven-across that is found in the aircrafts’ economy cabin.
Premium Select customers also receive a complimentary in-flight meal, dedicated check-in and baggage service and enhanced in-flight amenities, such as noise-canceling headsets.
SkyMiles members with loyalty status will be able to apply for upgrades to Premium Select on the JFK-LAX route using the same process as they use for domestic first-class upgrades.
Delta is joining United, which flies premium economy-configured aircraft on transcontinental routes between Newark and LAX and between Newark and San Francisco.
