JetBlue will start flying from Long Island’s MacArthur Airport

JetBlue will start serving MacArthur Airport in Islip on New York’s Long Island in October, flying three Florida routes.

On Oct. 24, JetBlue will begin daily service to Orlando and fly four times per week to Palm Beach. The following day, JetBlue will launch Fort Lauderdale service, operating four times per week.

JetBlue bills itself as “New York’s Hometown Airline,” and Islip will be its fifth airport in the region, joining Newark, New York LaGuardia, New York JFK and Westchester County.

JetBlue will compete against Southwest and Frontier on the Islip routes to Orlando and Palm Beach, Cirium flight-schedule data shows. Frontier also operates Islip-Fort Lauderdale.

JetBlue will be the fourth airline with flights to Islip, joining Southwest, Frontier and Breeze.

MacArthur Airport is 52 miles from Manhattan.
