Delonte West stumbles through parking lot in latest concerning video
Delonte West doesn’t appear well.
The troubled former NBA player was spotted stumbling through a parking lot in Arlington, Virginia on Thursday in a video obtained by TMZ.
The scene comes just a week after West, 40, was arrested after fleeing from police in Fairfax County as they were trying to serve him a warrant for violating terms of release.
Police found West unresponsive after the foot chase and had to administer Narcan for a suspected opioid overdose.
West was later taken to the hospital and charged with resisting arrest.
He was reportedly being held on $2,000 bond and due in court last Friday.
West, who played eight seasons in the NBA for the Celtics, Sonics, Cavaliers and Mavericks, has struggled with substance abuse, mental health issues and bipolar disorder since retiring from the league in 2012.
Signs of West’s falling on hard times emerged in February 2016 when he was seen barefoot and in a hospital gown out in public in Houston.
Later that year, a video of West panhandling in Maryland went viral.
Then in January 2020, a disconcerting video surfaced of a shirtless and bloody West on a Maryland sidewalk following an apparent fight.
In the incident’s aftermath, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped set up West, who last played in the NBA in 2012, in a rehab program.
By October 2021, West was out of rehab and arrested in Florida for allegedly cursing at officers while holding two open containers of alcohol.
A year later, he was arrested once again, this time twice in two weeks.
Earlier in 2022, West had attempted to get back in basketball shape in hopes of joining Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 league.
West played in 432 NBA games, averaging 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
