The Giants are lacking star power — what it means and who could step up
Not one. There was not one Giants player anywhere near the top 10 in retail sales of officially licensed NFL products. Nor in the top 20, top 30 or top 40. Of the 50 players listed by the NFL Players Association for top-selling jerseys and merchandise from the period of March 1, 2023 to Feb. 29, 2024, not one of them wore a Giants uniform.
So, who is the face of the franchise? Whoever it is, that face is not a big seller out there in the market.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was No. 1 on the NFL list for that time period. Jason Kelce, the former Eagles center who recently announced his retirement, was No. 2, followed by a pair of Chiefs players, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end (and Taylor Swift’s significant other) Travis Kelce. Niners running back Christian McCaffrey rounded out the top five.
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wherever he is nowadays, was No. 6 on the list, and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Niners quarterback Brock Purdy, Cowboys outside linebacker Micah Parsons and Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson also made the top 10.
