New York Giants: 1 Preposterous Suggestion Before The Start Of NFL Training Camp – Gridiron Heroics
The New York Giants will have a lot of interesting battles during training camp after they went through OTAs and mandatory minicamps. New York last season finished with a 6-11 record and missed the playoffs. The Giants hope things will be different for them in the 2024 season.
There were many questions for the New York Giants entering this offseason. One of those questions was can Daniel Jones be the starting quarterback? For now, it appears as if he will be the starting quarterback, but maybe Drew Lock will start at some point this season.
They also needed to add another wide receiver this offseason. The New York Giants made a smart decision by drafting wide receiver Malik Nabers from LSU with the sixth-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. They felt like he was a better player with that pick instead of quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Michigan.
Bleacher Report Suggests That the New York Giants Add a Tight End To the Roster Before Training Camp Begins
Tight end Darren Waller retired from the NFL. He was acquired in a trade last season for the New York Giants from the Las Vegas Raiders. At the time of that trade, the Giants needed to make that move, but it didn’t work out for them.
This season, the New York Giants will have Daniel Bellinger and rookie Theo Johnson as the top two tight ends on the roster. Jack Stoll and Chris Manhertz are the other two projected tight ends on the depth chart right now.
Bleacher Report Writer Matt Holder mentioned that the New York Giants should make a move at the position before the start of training camp. He said:
“Sign a tight end
Now that Darren Waller officially retired, it couldn’t hurt for the New York Giants to add another tight end. They’re currently expected to start third-year pro Daniel Bellinger or rookie Theo Johnson at the position, so the offense could use an experienced player in the meeting room.”
The only reliable tight end on the free agent market for the New York Giants to sign is Jimmy Graham. At 37 years old, it would be a preposterous decision for the organization to make. Graham would just be taking reps away from Daniel Bellinger and rookie Theo Johnson.
Jimmy Graham’s best days are behind him. It appears as if Graham could be retiring from the NFL and it wouldn’t be a good idea for a team like the New York Giants to call him.
