NYC landmark’s observation deck named top attraction in the world: Tripadvisor

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Yet again, this New York City landmark’s observation deck and its gorgeous Art Deco interior in Midtown Manhattan has been voted the No. 1 attraction in the world, according to Tripadvisor.

The Empire State Building Observatory has been ranked as the must-see destination for the third consecutive year.

“The Empire State Building Observatory is the most authentic New York City attraction, and this incredible global recognition is further proof that our decision to require reservations and avoid crowds at our reimagined Observatory Experience has been a huge success,” said Anthony E. Malkin, chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust.

The iconic Manhattan landmark has over 60,000 5-star reviews. Visitors describe the building and its views as mesmerizing, electrifying, amazing, and breathtaking on Tripadvisor.

The “world’s most famous building” has been featured in several films, such as “King Kong” and “Superman.” Millions of visitors every year travel through the building to admire its art deco metallic touches gilding the halls, elevators, and ceiling. An authentic piece of New York history, the Landmark Preservation Commission designated the building a landmark, according to its website.

The Empire State Building was once the tallest in the world. Today, it is 1,250 feet tall on its top floor and 1,454 feet tall with its antenna. Today, It’s the fourth tallest building in New York City, the sixth tallest in the United States, and the 43rd tallest tower in the world.
