The above trailer showcases some of the biggest moves the Giants made this offseason, including acquiring star edge rusher Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers. The team also stood pat in the 2024 NFL Draft, after plenty of rumors indicated they would trade up to select a young quarterback.
Strangely, that would not come to pass. The Giants would not move on from Daniel Jones, and instead draft a proven weapon for him in the 2024 season in the form of LSU’s Malik Nabers.
The Giants organization has faced plenty of scrutiny for sticking with Jones, who is arguably just a run-of-the-mill quarterback. Still, the franchise is set on seeing what Jones can do when fully healthy. The five-year veteran tore his ACL early in the 2023 season but is vying to return when the 2024 regular season starts.
It will be interesting to see how Giants general manager Joe Schoen goes through the reasoning behind keeping Jones, while also dealing with the exodus of the team’s most talented player, Saquon Barkley. Was there a contract fallout with Barkley, and how close were the Giants to keeping him?
The trailer does show a moment when Schoen is presumably speaking to Barkley on the phone, though the result of the conversations would ultimately lead to his signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Giants are an intriguing team to pay attention to engage in the first-ever “Hard Knocks” offseason iteration. They lost one of the best players at the running back position while also securing one of the best pass rushers in the league.
With the new off-season iteration, “Hard Knocks” will also engage in showcasing a first-ever in-season iteration that will highlight an entire division. The entire AFC North will be showcased in this new iteration. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals will battle it out for a coveted playoff spot and the AFC North crown.
“Hard Knocks” has evolved through the years, but the 2024 season iterations could be some of the most intriguing the program has featured its 2007 debut.
