Bargain Hunters Rejoice: Goodwill Store Opening On Boston Post Road
LARCHMONT, NY — One of the best things about Goodwill stores is that no two have the exact same merchandise on sale and soon, there will be a new store of our very own to explore.
Goodwill Industries of Greater NY and Northern NJ, Inc. (Goodwill NYNJ) will be opening a new, traditional, full-service Goodwill Store & Donation Center at 1333 W. Boston Post Rd. (next to Walgreens) in Larchmont on Tuesday.
The local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization says it will launch the nonprofit Goodwill site to serve as a sustainability resource to help Westchester County residents re-use and re-purpose the clothing and home goods they no longer need and to divert usable goods from New York landfills.
The 4,976 sq.-ft. Goodwill Store & Donation Center will offer a variety of “pre-loved” and new women’s, men’s, and kids’ clothing, along with household wares. The location will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Goodwill NYNJ has helped New Yorkers re-use and re-purpose goods for over a century. Because Goodwill is a nonprofit organization, donors receive a tax receipt for their donations upon request.
The organization says that in 2023, Goodwill NYNJ re-purposed more than 37 million pounds of pre-loved clothing and home goods, successfully diverting the weight of usable goods equivalent to 83 Statues of Liberty from the landfills. They also saved nearly 55 thousand metric tons of CO2 from polluting the atmosphere, the equivalent of removing 12 thousand cars from the road.
Over 933 thousand donors have dropped off goods at Goodwill, allowing the retail operations to “harness the power of sustainable fashion for a greener, healthier planet.”
