Are the Giants a ‘tire fire’ waiting to happen for 2024 NFL season?

Some are up on the New York Giants for 2024. Others are down. But one NFL writer foresees the Giants bring an all-out tire-fire for next season.

Jarrett Bailey of Touchdown Fire made sure to give the Giants no props when appraising their 2024 season outlook, saying this in part about how they’ll fare (h/t John Fennelly of Giants Wire):

“The Giants are a tire fire. They are somehow still doing the Daniel Jones thing, and their offense as a whole lacks any sort of star power outside of Malik Nabers. I’d label the Giants as the team who will have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft,” Bailey wrote.

The first step toward not being a tire fire in 2024 is reducing the amount of sacks conceded on the year. The Giants’ NFL-leading 85 sacks given up last season was the second-most in NFL history and contributed to their offensive woes and injuries.

Nabers will be a huge pass-catching difference-maker for the G-Men next time out, but they also have Jalin Hyatt, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton who all bring their own unique skill sets to the wide receiver department.

Giants have a lot to look forward to behind defense & Daniel Jones bounce back

As for the “Daniel Jones thing,” he is the best quarterback they’ve got going at the present and will be given the benefit of the doubt to return to the QB he was in 2022 when he led the Giants to a 9-7 record and playoff berth. Drew Lock May be making a lot of noise this offseason but Jones has the experience and track record to make something happen next time out.

On defense, if Kayvon Thibodeaux and his defensive troops can put their money where their mouth is, they’ll have a great chance of fielding a top-10 pass rush and giving more time on the field to Jones and Company. New York may not be in line for an explosive season, but that does not mean that it will be explosively bad either, without anything to extrapolate from throughout the campaign.
