Aaron Stinnie might start for Giants, and he might be gone

Aaron Stinnie was one of five veteran offensive linemen signed this offseason by the New York Giants. Where does Stinnie fit as the Giants try yet again to piece together an efficient offensive line?

Let’s discuss Stinnie as we continue player-by-player profiles of the Giants’ 90-man roster.

The skinny

Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 312
Opening day age: 30
Position: Guard
Experience: 6
Contract: One-year, $1,292,500 | 2024 cap hit: $1,152,500 | Guaranteed at signing: $100,000

Career to date

Stinnie entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2018. He was a backup guard with the Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his first five seasons, getting just one start. In 2023, though, he started 11 games at left guard for the Buccaneers.

Stinnie graded adequately in his most extensive playing time. He had a 56.5 overall Pro Football Focus grade, 53.5 pass blocking, and 58.9 run blocking. In pass protection, he gave up three sacks and 32 pressures in 535 snaps, a 96.5 pass-blocking efficiency score.

Stinnie has played both guard spots during his career.

2024 outlook

Stinnie could be the Giants’ starting left guard if Jermaine Eluemunor moves to right tackle to replace Evan Neal. He could be a valuable interior offensive line backup. He could end up left off the 53-man roster entirely.

Beyond the projected starting five of Andrew Thomas, Eluemunor, John Michael Schmitz, Jon Runyan Jr., and Neal only 2022 third-round pick Josh Ezeudu seems to have a backup spot locked down.

Stinnie will be part of an active competition for those spots this summer.
