Knicks Bulletin: “I’ve got to be that scrappy junkyard dog”
The New York Knicks are back. Oh, so back they are. The Summer ‘Bockers got things going in Vegas with a matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, July 13.
Yes, they failed to win, but the kids brought tons of fancy things to the table while showing up ready for war and doing very promising things in a scorching-hot Sin City court.
Here’s what the folks had to say about that game and other topics.
Dice Yoshimoto (Summer Knicks Head Coach)
On Tyler Kolek’s skill set and mindset…
“Very unselfish, great floor game. Tough, smart, and obviously a winner.”
Tyler Kolek
On his role and place in the Knicks senior roster…
“Yeah, I’m just trying to come in and do whatever (Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau) asks me to do.”
“Just keep my head down, do what he asks me to do. I’m a worker. that’s my calling card. I’m going to be in the gym, I’m going to get better. Really whatever the team needs, what the coach needs, that’s what I’m going to do.”
On the comparisons to Indiana Pacers guard TJ McConnell…
“He plays hard, he plays tough. I’ve got to be that scrappy junkyard dog as well. I guess you can say that. I admire his game. Anyone in the league, I look for things I can pull from.”
On having Jalen Brunson as his teammate…
“I can learn from him.”
Mikal Bridges
On OG Anunoby coming back to New York and sharing the floor with him next season…
“I think it’s great for the team and I think defensively it makes it easier to do a lot of things. I was excited when OG signed that. A lot of money. I always tease him when I see him about that. Like, let me hold a dollar!”
“I just know what OG brings. And obviously everybody else, just talking about OG now. But that’s my guy. We kind of developed a relationship over the years. Acknowledging each other and knowing what we do for our respective teams. It’s great having him out there.”
OG Anunoby
On whether or not he arrived in Vegas on a luxurious chopper as Josh Hart guessed on “The Roommates Show”…
“No, I don’t have a helicopter.”
