New York Giants: Malik Nabers Fantasy Football Report – Gridiron Heroics
New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is ready to become the top wide receiver for the Giants in his rookie season. There is no doubt that a lot of fantasy football owners will be eyeing him because he will be the top option in the Giants’ offense.
Nabers was the top receiving option for the LSU Tigers a season ago when Jayden Daniels was his quarterback. Malik Nabers caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns, along with averaging 17.6 yards per reception.
Some might be concerned that Daniel Jones is his quarterback and rightfully so, but it may not matter. Nabers will be the main playmaker for the New York Giants since running back Saquon Barkley left for the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL free agency this offseason.
Pro Football Focus Gives Some Insight About New York Giants Wide Receiver Malik Nabers In Fantasy Football For the 2024 Season
Pro Football Focus Nathan Jahnke created a fantasy football profile for the Giants rookie wide receiver entering the 2024 season. Jahnke said about Nabers entering the 2024 fantasy football season:
“Mike Kafka remains the Giants’ offensive coordinator, but his offense is bound to change. He spent five years with the Kansas City Chiefs, helped by Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, before moving to a Giants unit headlined by running back Saquon Barkley. He’s finally back to an offense where his top weapon is a receiver. We will have to see how he changes his offense in 2024.
Having Daniel Jones at quarterback isn’t ideal, but it’s not all bad. A lot of his dropbacks end up in either a scramble or a sack, which means fewer targets for the wide receivers. He’s also not a deep-ball passer. Luckily, Nabers ran a very diverse route tree in college, so he could be successful without many deep passes. The one bright spot is that Jones locks onto his first read more than most quarterbacks, and Nabers should be the first read often.
It’s at least possible Drew Lock will take over as the starter this season. That might not be better for the Giants’ chances of winning, but it could help Nabers’ fantasy value because a higher percentage of dropbacks would end up in a pass attempt, and Lock is more willing to throw deep.”
There is no doubt that Nabers will catch a lot of slant passes and possibly take it to distance. One thing that the New York Giants want to do this season is to throw it deep more often. Malik Nabers is a game-breaker and the Giants love his dawg mentality. Janhke also added:
“Nabers has the upside to be a future top-10 fantasy wide receiver, but the New York Giants‘ offense may hold him back in 2024. There is a chance Nabers is currently being undervalued because New York could be among the league leaders in targets, but the top 24 of fantasy wide receivers is too competitive right now for him to be among them.”
It may not take long for Malik Nabers to potentially be a Top 10 wide receiver in the NFL. LSU Tigers who come into the NFL right away as a wide receiver usually have a very good track record. Nabers will be no different as a rookies like Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Odell Beckham Jr. were.
