NFL analyst says former New York Giants’ Day 2 pick in danger of being cut | Sporting News

Despite some questions in the secondary, a former Day 2 pick for the New York Giants is in danger of being cut.

With training camp arriving next week, there will be immense competition at the cornerback position in the Giants secondary.

Aaron Robinson, a third-round pick by the Giants in 2021, is a cut candidate, according to Dakota Randall of Pro Football Network.

Aaron Robinson hasn’t been able to carve a large role since being drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He also missed all of 2023 due to injuries and finds himself on New York’s roster bubble.

Robinson tore his ACL and MCL during the first month of the 2022 season but never made it back to the field in 2023.

After missing the first three games of the 2022 season due to an emergency appendectomy, Robinson lasted just 12 snaps before suffering the season-ending knee injury in his Week 4 return.

The UCF product missed eight games during his rookie campaign in 2021 due to various injuries, making it difficult for the Giants to trust him going into the offseason.

With Deonte Banks and Cor’Dale Flott running as the projected starters on the outside, the Giants added Andru Phillips out of Kentucky in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s expected to compete for the nickel role immediately.

Even with some depth concerns in the secondary, Robinson faces an uphill battle to make the roster following the preseason.
