New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers ranked #92 on NFL.com top 100 players list
Every year NFL.com releases its top 100 list, which is created based on player votes. Recently, the NFL launched its list for 2024, and it included a notable New York Jet: quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The good news? This means the New York Jets have a quarterback in the top 100 list, which has become a rare sight in recent years.
The bad news? Aaron Rodgers ranked #92 on that list, barely making the list.
Overall, this was a rather large drop from Rodgers, who ranked #41 just last year. To me, this seems like a rather large drop even when considering Rodgers’ Achilles injury from last season, especially considering that he won the league MVP as late as 2021.
If I speculate on why players voted in this manner, I am left with two possibilities:
- Players forgot about Rodgers when casting votes due to his injury.
- Players are expecting Rodgers to decline rather significantly.
Of the two, New York Jets fans will have to hope that it’s the former rather than the latter, but the answer will likely not be determined until opening day.
Of additional note, the Top 100 list is rolled out in increments, with this release from 100-91 being the first release. Additional New York Jets that should make the list include cornerback Sauce Gardner, running back Breece Hall, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, and left tackle Tyron Smith.
