New York Giants rookie Tyler Nubin missed his second consecutive practice at training camp Friday due to a calf injury.
Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters before Friday’s practice that they hope Nubin returns to the field soon — even as early as Sunday following the team’s day off.
Nubin was the team’s second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Minnesota. He’s expected to earn a starting role in Shane Bowen’s defense at some point during his rookie season.
Nubin has yet to take over the first-team defense through the first week of training camp. Instead, Jason Pinnock and Dane Belton have been running as the safety tandem with Nick McCloud and Isaiah Simmons mixing in as nickel defenders as well.
This will be something to monitor considering how big of a question mark the secondary is so it will be interesting to see if he returns to practice Sunday.
