Houston Texans vs. New York Giants: players to watch
The Houston Texans are fresh off a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and will be playing the New York Giants today at NRG Stadium.
Here is a look at four players that you need to keep your eye on:
PLAYER ONE: WIDE RECEIVER JOHN METCHIE III
The former second-rounder has been outshined by just about every other receiver on the roster and is in desperate need for a good performance. The talent has always been there but has yet to put it all together.
If Metchie has another average game, it could put him too far behind the other receivers, which could mean he plays elsewhere in 2024.
PLAYER TWO: RUNNING BACK DAMEON PIERCE
The talented back struggled with his limited reps against the Steelers, but has the opportunity to turn it around against the Giants.
Pierce has struggled since the Texans hired Bobby Slowik to be their offensive coordinator, he even admitted that he was thinking too much, but seems to be in a much better place entering year three.
He should be the second running back behind Joe Mixon, but if Cam Akers continues to impress, there is a chance that he could close the gap.
PLAYER THREE: CORNERBACK KAMARI LASSITER
Lassiter is going to make his long awaited debut today, after missing the last couple games with an ankle injury. The injury was nothing too serious but the Texans staff has been playing it safe.
The rookie is set to be starting on the opposite side of Derek Stingley Jr. after an impressive training camp.
PLAYER FOUR: SAFETY CALEN BULLOCK
Bullock has been on this list every week and for good reason. His potential is off the charts and has been flashing glimpses of the type of player he can be. His range as a safety is something special that not many players could do.
Although it may not be immediately, he could be inserted into the starting lineup in 2024, opposite Jimmie Ward.
The Texans are inching closer and closer to the regular season, only three weeks away.
