Giants injury news: WR/KR Gunner Olszewski reportedly out 2-4 weeks

The New York Giants suffered multiple injuries in their 28-10 loss to the Houston Texans in the second preseason game.

The headliners are special teams ace Gunner Olszewski, linebacker Micah McFadden, and defensive lineman Ryder Anderson.

The Giants confirmed after the game that Olszewski suffered a groin injury in practice during the week, with Brian Daboll saying that he thinks he will be out “a little while”. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that he’s hearing 2-4 weeks for Olszewski.

Linebacker Micah McFadden suffered a hip injury late in the first quarter. He was carted off the field after being attended to by the training staff. The Giants announced that McFadden had been ruled out of the game late in the second quarter.

Anderson, who has been a starter alongside Dexter Lawrence II, left the game in the opening seconds of the second quarter. He was quickly ruled out with a hamstring injury. Anderson hasn’t just been making a strong push for a roster spot, but was on track to start. Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky, and any extended absence could create an opportunity for Elijah Chatman to cement a significant role for himself.

Multiple players down the Giants’ depth chart also suffered injuries.

Linebacker and special teams player Matthew Adams left the field after a big hit on Texans running back J.J. Taylor in the third quarter He was quickly ruled out with a groin injury of his own before the end of the third quarter.

Offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste was ruled out of the game late in the fourth quarter with a foot injury.

Newly-signed safety Jonathan Sutherland was ruled “questionable” with a burner after going into the blue medical tent early in the third quarter. He returned later in the game.

Defensive tackle D.J. Davidson went down and was helped to the sideline by trainers in the fourth quarter. Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reported that trainers were looking at his eyes or face.
