Micah McFadden injury update: Timeline for Giants LB’s return revealed | Sporting News

New York Giants linebacker Micah McFadden suffered a groin injury during the preseason game against the Houston Texans, and his potential return date has been revealed.

It seems McFadden avoided serious injury after exiting the game early on Saturday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

The third-year linebacker could miss some time but has a chance to be ready for Week 1, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

McFadden took over a starting role next to Bobby Okereke in Wink Martindle’s defense. He’s expected to remain the starter under new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.

However, his progress has been slow. McFadden dealt with a hamstring injury during the spring and a good chunk of training camp before the preseason.

Coming out of his first season as a starter, McFadden recorded 101 tackles (63 solo), 12 tackles for loss, one interception and five passes defensed during the 2023 campaign.

With Dyontae Johnson also dealing with an ankle injury, the Giants may need to lean on rookie sixth-round pick Darius Muasau, who replaced McFadden during the preseason game.
