Giants waive WR Isaiah Hodgins
The New York Giants have waived wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins as a part of their final cut down.
Hodgins, 25, was initially drafted out of Oregon State in the sixth round of the 2020 draft by the Buffalo Bills. He was claimed by the Giants off of waivers from the Bills in November of 2022 and quickly carved out a role for himself in the Giants’ offense. He became Daniel Jones’ most reliable receivers in 2022 and 2023, using his size and precise route running to consistently get open in the reworked passing offense the Giants rode to the playoffs.
Despite not getting on the field for the Giants until Week 8 of 2022 and starting just 14 games over the last two seasons, Hodgins is still second on the Giants in touchdowns since the start of 2022 with seven
Hodgins saw his share of the offense decrease as the Giants have tried to place greater emphasis on speed and explosiveness. And while Hodgins has upside as a possession receiver, he isn’t a special teams player, which is necessary for players down the depth chart to keep their spots on the roster.
