Fashion insider breaks down New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week made its grand return this past weekend as some of the city’s top designers showcased their latest collections.

The festivities began with a march on Friday, promoting the “Fashion for Our Future” campaign. Organized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and supported by Vogue magazine, the event — which traveled from Herald Square to Bryant Park — urged attendees to exercise their right to vote.

Among those present was Samantha Barry, editor-in-chief of Glamour. Barry, like many other fashion enthusiasts, attended shows throughout the weekend to see the new designs paraded on the runway.

On Monday, Barry appeared on “Morning On 1” to recap the start of Fashion Week and offer advice for New Yorkers looking to stay stylish.

“Here’s what we’re seeing on the actual catwalks. We’re seeing boho was back with a vengeance. We’re seeing neutrals. We’re seeing a lot of animal print. You’re seeing a lot. Leopard print is back,” Barry said.

“Sheer hasn’t gone anywhere. So, like, I think you see, I think we’ve had a lot of sheer dressing in recent seasons. It is still a big, big thing on the runway,” she said.

Barry said there are many wearable looks on the runway, including “fantastic bag charms, the bigger, the better.”
