In early 2024, Chloé did a rare thing during its AW24 show, placing the now-iconic platform wedge heels on the feet of its front-row guests. The wooden-heeled wedge sparked a full-blown cultural moment, sending sales soaring and setting the tone for the season ahead. It’s not often you witness VIP guests, who usually have the pick of a designer’s litter, all donning the same accessory – but occasionally, a piece has a certain magnetic pull.

Fast forward to yesterday’s Tory Burch SS25 show during New York Fashion Week, where the latest must-have accessory clip-clopped down the runway sidelines. The Pierced Pump, featuring a sculptural metal detail reminiscent of a body piercing, caught the attention of the crowd.

The design boasts a sleek, inward-curved heel and a softly pointed toe, available in black, white, and deep red. Whether paired with polished tailoring, sheer fabrics, or modern shift dresses, the Pierced Pump was a standout on and off the runway.

It’s not the first time the brand has created a cult accessory. Cast your mind back to its rounded-toe Reva flats stamped with gold logo medallions from the early Noughties, which the brand reintroduced during its 20th anniversary celebrations earlier this year, or the hybrid ballet loafer in every colourway under the sun.

This time around, however, the cult shoe in question feels a little more modern, perhaps even cooler than that which proceeded it. In attendance, A-listers like Mindy Kaling, Michelle Williams, and Jodie Turner- Smith trotted in the new style, alongside stars like Joey King and Elizabeth Olsen. The unique pierced motif extended beyond pumps, making its way onto sling-back kitten heels and mules flats, proving there was something to fit every style and occasion.
