Bill Belichick is currently juggling a busy schedule with commitments to at least seven shows, and that number could grow as the season goes on.Despite this, there’s speculation about whether “football’s greatest coach” will make a return to the sidelines. Julian Edelman and Colin Cowherd recently discussed Belichick’s potential comeback, with Edelman, who played under Belichick as a Patriots wide receiver, suggesting the New York Giants as the most likely destination for his return.
“I remember vividly anytime we played in New York, or we played the Giants, you could just see a little like jingle in Belichick’s Spirit, because he loved talking about those old Giants teams, and he loved talking about that organization. You know, you could tell that he loved the New York Giants,” Edelman added. (via Sportskeeda)
Belichick’s fondness for the Giants is evident, and with family ties in the Northeast, he could be inclined to sign with the team in the near future. Earlier this year, when Belichick parted ways with the New England Patriots, the Giants were speculated as a likely destination for the 72-year-old. However, he ultimately chose to pursue a role as an analyst instead.
While Edelman recognized the skill of current Giants coach Brian Daboll, he believed that quarterback Daniel Jones could gain invaluable insights from the 8-time Super Bowl champion.
Bill Belichick praises Tom Brady
On the “Pat McAfee Show,” Belichick, who transitioned to the media world alongside Brady after a distinguished football career, reminisced about his time with Brady, saying:
“I would say with Tom, I learned a lot more from him than he learned from me, I’m sure.”
Few anticipated Belichick’s remarks, especially given recent speculation about a strained relationship between them. To add to the surprise, Belichick also praised Brady’s debut as a commentator.
“I thought Tom was excellent.”
While Belichick hasn’t signed on for any commentary roles, he will be analyzing games alongside Peyton Manning on the ManningCast and appearing weekly on the “Pat McAfee Show.” He’s also involved with “Inside the NFL,” co-hosts the “Let’s Go!” podcast, contributes to the “Underdog Fantasy Show,” and serves as a strategic advisor for “The 33rd Team” website. However, a return to coaching isn’t out of the question; after all, Tom Brady came out of retirement to win another Super Bowl with the Buccaneers. It remains to be seen if Belichick will follow a similar path.
