Michael Kors wrapped up New York Fashion Week 2024 with a spectacular show. The iconic American luxury designer showcased his Spring/Summer 2025 collection at The Shed in Hudson Yards. The event featured a star-studded runway and a glamorous front row.

Theme Inspired by Netflix Series

Michael Kors’ show at New York Fashion Week drew inspiration from the Netflix series Ripley, adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley. The runway experience transported guests to the rugged beaches of the Amalfi Coast. Set within a raw midtown venue, the space featured stark metal benches along the walls and large faux black rocks scattered around, evoking the Italian cliffs.

Texture And Colour Tones

The collection featured raffia hand embroideries, raffia fringe, artisanal floral fabric embroidery, chantilly lace, crushed satins and cotton, pleated fabric, and mixed textures in black and white. It also boasts natural and earth tones such as hemp, ecru, cactus green, brown and peanut shade. The designs included graphic necklines from sweetheart to plunging, half sleeves, mini and long skirts, and bare bandeaus. Footwear included pumps, mules, and stilettos with fringe detailing, as well as flat fisherman sandals, which are very popular these days. Accessories included hand-woven leather market and bucket bags, sherpa-textured clutches, and mini bags with artisanal tassels and woven handles on structured satchels.

Michael Kors’ collection blended city chic with resort wear. The show began with a 1950s maillot, high-slit skirt, and a leather basket bag, and ended with an embellished shimmery bandeau and long skirt. Member of the popular K-pop group TWICE and Michael Kors’ global brand ambassador, Kim Dahyun made her runway debut. The K-pop idol impressed the front row with a rich chocolate brown dress and a confident walk. Her ensemble featured an off-shoulder neckline and a mini-length dress, paired with a matching chocolate brown belt. She completed the look with a chocolate brown fringe bag and heels.
