Both of these teams came into the season already with limited expectations, but lackluster performances during Week 1 did not drive any optimism within their respective fanbases.
The Commanders are putting a lot of their eggs in the basket of reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. The former LSU quarterback did not play all that bad against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throwing for 184 yards, rushing for another 88 and two touchdowns. However, his defense did not help out, as Washington was ran over by Baker Mayfield and company, 37-20.
The season could not have started any worse for the Giants. With a healthy Daniel Jones back at the helm, the team’s offense did almost nothing against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. Jones threw a pick-six late in the game to seal the Giants’ fate, as they lost 28-6, at home. Brian Daboll’s team has a ton of holes in it. Whether it be the overwhelming problems offensively that carried over from last season, or the defense that allowed Sam Darnold to toss the ball around the Meadowlands, it is shaping up to be another long season for the Giants.
The Giants and Washington football team have played 184 times since 1932. Since then, New York leads the all-time series 108-71-5, having won each of the last three meetings.
