Haitians in Long Island, New York, held a protest Wednesday ahead of Donald Trump‘s rally in the state’s Uniondale area. The former president has repeated rumour that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, are eating pet cats and ducks, despite police in Springfield debunking it. The Haitians gathered in Long Island Wednesday afternoon with a banner that read: ‘We don’t eat cats, we vote.’

As per posts on X by News Day reporter John Asbury, a Haitian group in Long Island held a counter-rally at the Nassau Coliseum, the venue of Trump’s rally today. In a follow-up post, Asbury said that confrontation broke out between members of the group and some Trump supporters at the rally, and Nassau Police had to intervene and separate the two groups.

This is a developing story.
