CLEVELAND (AP/WJW) — The Cleveland Browns started off Sunday’s matchup with the Giants strong, scoring eleven seconds into the game. The touchdown followed a fumble by the Giants on the opening kickoff. On the very next play, Deshaun Watson hit Amari Cooper in the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown.

However, nothing else was easy for the Browns following that explosive start, and they eventually fell to the Giants, moving to 1-2 on the season.

With just over two minutes left in the first quarter, the Giants’ Devin Singletary scored on 1-yard run.

The game was tied at 7-7 after the first.

With a 3-yard touchdown pass to Malik Nabers, the Giants took a 14-7 lead with just under two minutes to go in the second quarter.

Deshuan Watson was sacked and fumbled on the Giants’ 30 giving the ball back to New York in good scoring position.

The Giants capitalize with another Malik Nabers touchdown, his second of the game, with 11 seconds to go in the second quarter, taking a 21-7 lead before halftime.

Halftime score: Browns 7, Giants 21.

For the start of the third quarter, the Browns recovered a Giants’ fumble, but missed a 53-yard field goal attempt.

The team announced that guard Wyatt Teller is not coming back into the game after he sustained a knee injury.

For a moment it seemed like maybe the Browns were getting something cookin’ but, then … they were back to punting.

The score remained the same going into the fourth quarter. Then the Browns got a couple first downs under their belt and Watson and Cooper made magic once more. With a successful 2-point conversion the score moved to 21-15.

The momentum continued, until the Browns fumbled in the 7-minute mark.

The Browns had more chances but were not able to capitalize. Watson’s pass to Cedric Tillman was dropped on 4th & 5, giving the ball to the Giants to essentially run out the clock, as the Browns did not have any more timeouts.

The Giants won 21-15.

Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson looked more confident and poised a week ago in a win at Jacksonville, but many questions remain.

Guardians are 2024 AL Central Champions!

The performance came after a concerning opener and on the heels of Watson being named a new civil lawsuit the NFL is investigating.

The Giants are winless after losing last week despite scoring three touchdown and holding Washington to seven field goals.

While some key players are going to be out for the Browns (Conklin has since been ruled out and a couple other roster moves have been made):

It seems DE Myles Garrett is confident he’ll be playing, despite issues with his feet.

“Don’t feel 100 percent but feel good enough to go out there and make a difference,” Garrett told reporters during practice Friday. “So we’ll go out there and do that.”

The Browns announced Sunday’s inactives and expected lineup changes ahead of kickoff:
