Malik Nabers Reflects On Why He’s Been So Successful to Start NFL Career

The New York Giants came out of Week 3 victorious. They grabbed their first win of the season on the road against the Cleveland Browns.

The Giants are finally in the win column, and they could thank their rookie wide receiver, Malik Nabers. If there’s one thing we know about Nabers after three games of the NFL season, it’s that he is so good at football.

The Browns learned that the hard way, as Nabers was toying with Cleveland’s secondary.

The rookie wide receiver made multiple highlight-reel grabs and scored two touchdowns in the first half of Sunday’s game, making NFL history in the process.

Nabers’s NFL career is off to a historic start, as the 21-year-old became the first player in league history to record 20+ receptions, 250+ receiving yards and three or more touchdown catches in their first three games.

Overall, Nabers had himself a game as he recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

After the game, Nabers didn’t mince any words when discussing his recent success.

“Having that dawg mentality that I’ve got, it’s just showing every time I’m out there on the field.”

The Giants selected Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He showed promise as a Tiger at LSU and is showing that he is the real deal thus far.

“Just hard work. [Coach Brian Daboll] cooking up. Dabs cooking up a lot of plays for me. Offense trusting me to get that done. Putting a lot of targets on my back to get the ball in my hands it shows how much we want to be an explosive offense. I’m just a key factor in that offense,” Nabers said.

Giants linebacker Brian Burns couldn’t help but praise the rookie wide receiver.

“The kid’s special,” Burns said. “He’s showing you week in and week out he’s special.”

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones isn’t surprised at all by the rookie’s performance.

“He’s played really well to start, and it hasn’t surprised us with watching him in training camp and all the plays he’s made,” Jones said. “He’s made a lot of big plays for us, and I have a lot of trust in him going up and getting the ball. We need to continue to take advantage of his ability to make plays.”

Nabers has a long way to go, but he’s looking like the real done and the lone leader for AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
