Hudson Valley Adds Non-Farm Jobs
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Metro areas in the Hudson Valley added private sector jobs in the past year, according to a new report from the New York Department of Labor.
Non-farm jobs in the Dutchess/Putnam metro area rose to 144,400 from 142,600. In the Kingston metro area, they rose to 60,600 from 59,400. In Orange/Rockland/Westchester, they rose to 743,800 from 727,600.
New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 4.3% to 4.4% in August 2024. At the same time, New York State’s labor force (seasonally adjusted) decreased by 8,500. As a result, the statewide labor force participation rate held constant at 61.3% in August 2024.
Statewide, the jobs growth was only in private education and health services, and hospitality and leisure.
