After a torn ACL cut his 2023 season short, Daniel Jones is back in full force as the Giants starting QB.

While Jones has had his fair share of ups and downs throughout his career, he was able to lead the franchise to the playoffs during his last full season. The 27-year-old returns to action with a new target in first-round WR Malik Nabers, who has already turned in multiple highlight plays.

Jones has seemingly shaken off the rust in his return to action, but New York is still taking a cautious approach with its franchise QB. Should Jones need a reprieve, the Giants have made moves to ensure their QB room has enough support.

Here’s a look at New York’s QB depth chart in 2024.

Giants QB depth chart

Daniel Jones

Jones, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is in his sixth season as New York’s starting QB. Jones assumed the reins from Eli Manning, taking over for the two-time Super Bowl champ in Week 3 of the 2019 season.

After leading New York to the NFC Divisional Round in 2022, Jones inked a four-year $160 million contract to keep him with the franchise through at least the 2026 season. Injuries marred Jones’ 2023 season and a torn ACL marked the end of his campaign.

After playing just six games last year, Jones is back under center and aims to lead New York back to the postseason. He has thrown for 600 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions through the first three weeks of the 2024 season.

Drew Lock

Lock signed with the Giants as a free agent in March, joining the franchise after two seasons in Seattle. He is listed as the backup on New York’s depth chart.

Like Jones, Lock is a member of the 2019 draft class. After going 42nd overall in 2019, Lock went 4-1 in five starts as a rookie — his best season as a Bronco. Lock was sent to the Seahawks as part of the Russell Wilson trade but lost the QB competition to Geno Smith.

After making just two starts in Seattle, Lock is now tasked with the role of Jones’ primary backup.

Tommy DeVito

DeVito, a New Jersey native, was a phenomenon during the 2023 season.

Jones’ injuries thrust DeVito into the spotlight, where he posted a 3-3 record as a starter, captivating New York fans in the process. As an undrafted rookie in 2023, DeVito completed 114 passes for 1,101 yards, including eight touchdowns and just three picks. 

It’s possible he could overtake Lock at some point this year, but for now, “Tommy Cutlets” is merely the emergency QB.
