Knicks Rumors: Injured Mitchell Robinson Probed as Next One on Trade Block Amid His Social Media Restlessness
Mitchell Robinson is definitely on the hot seat. We aren’t saying it. The 7 ‘0 big man’s restless social media impulses have given away his jittery mood. And, it’s after the Big Apple pulled off a blockbuster trade to rope in Karl-Anthony Towns by sending away Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota. While the injured center has been a load on the Knicks roster, a recent update pushes him to the trade corridor. Are we in for another Knicks shocker?
Well, it looks like it. Kris Pursiainen, a senior reporter, stated that the NY side’s front office has been “receiving and taking calls” related to the injured center. Moreover, as per insider information on the trade situation, Pursiainen added that the Knicks are looking to make yet another trade after the Kat blockbuster.

Months into the 2024 off-season, the NY Knicks lost their trusted backup center Isaiah Hartenstein in the free agent market, increasing the expectations around Mitchell Robinson. Unfortunately, the latest report revealed that the 26-year-old, who was recovering from an ankle injury, won’t return to the court until December/November. While Julius Randle was expected to take care of the rim job until Robinson’s recovery, the NY side pulled off a last-minute blockbuster.
This leaves us with a lot of questions: Will the Knicks patiently wait for Robinson to recover? Given the fact that the injured center is the longest-serving Knicks on the current roster, will he get a reprieve? Or Is it curtains for the star defenders?

Before we begin with our predictions, it’s also important to address Robinson’s emotional state. Following the Towns trade, the big man has flooded social media with a variety of content. Firstly, the 26-year-old has thrown in a few statements on his IG stories, clearly reflecting an insecure state. “I’m really a great vibe”, “Longest Knick”, “Risking my body to get the job done really paid off #ClampA mitch is full effect”, “Yall finna hate me” & “Risking it all”, these are some statements which he posted in a few hours. Along with that, he also added a flurry of highlight reels from his past performances.
The center came into side during the 2018 Draft and continued to stay on the roster, while everyone around him kept changing. After a 6-season-long stay on the side, Mitch doubts whether he’d lace up for the Knicks in the upcoming season. At least, that’s what the latest trade report suggests.
However, looking closer at the roster and recent trade, it doesn’t look like the Knicks would trade the big man. Following the inclusion of Karl-Anthony Towns, the team already has a stacked frontcourt with OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges. So, the side doesn’t need to risk it all for a backup center. On the other hand, the team hasn’t found a replacement for Donte DiVincenzo, and the upcoming trade can include a backcourt player. What do you think?
