Week 5 Injury Report: Seahawks vs. Giants

Wednesday Injury Report

The Seahawks held a walkthrough on Wednesday afternoon as they are coming off a short week due to the game on Monday night. The team released an estimation of the injury report had the team fully practiced and four players did not participate, three due to injuries. Defensive tackle Byron Murphy II and linebacker Boye Mafe were among the players who did not participate in the walkthrough as they are trying to work their way back from lower body injuries. Both players did not play against the Lions as Murphy is dealing with a hamstring injury and Mafe has a knee injury. Murphy was unable to practice all of last week and starts this week on the sideline. Mafe has been dealing with a knee injury that listed him on the injury report in recent weeks, but Monday night was the first game he could not play in.

Tyrel Dodson was also unable to participate on Wednesday as he is suffering from a shoulder injury and now is dealing with an ankle injury on top of it. Dodson had been on the injury report in recent weeks with the shoulder injury but is now dealing with a new ailment that forced him to miss today’s walkthrough. The final player that was unable practice was Johnathan Hankins as he is listed with a NIR-personal designation.

In good news, Leonard Williams and Uchenna Nwosu were among the nine players limited on Wednesday afternoon. Nwosu has yet to make his season debut because of a knee injury suffered in the preseason finale while Williams missed his first game of the season last week with a rib injury. Starting safety Julian Love was also limited because of a thigh injury that forced him to exit Monday’s loss to the Lions. “I think he’s doing OK,” said head coach Mike Macdonald. “I haven’t talked to him in the last X amount of hours or so, but things are all right.”

Second-year defensive lineman Cameron Young returned to practice in a limited capacity for the first time this season. Young started the season on the PUP list but is now starting to work his way back to the field. Inside linebacker Jerome Baker also practiced in a limited capacity after missing the past two games. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the past few months and had to exit the Week 2 over the Patriots because of it.

Seven players were listed as full participants to start the week including DK Metcalf and Kenneth Walker III. Metcalf has been listed recently with a hand injury but that hasn’t slowed him down as he has set a franchise record with three consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards. Kenneth Walker III was a full participant as well after returning to game action last week. He had missed Weeks 2 and 3 because of an oblique injury but was able to return on Monday night and score three touchdowns.

The Giants began the week of preparation with two key rookies sidelined due to injuries. Their first round pick this season, Malik Nabers, suffered a concussion in their Week 4 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football and missed practice to start the week. Nabers has taken the league by storm as he leads the NFL in targets, ranks second in receiving yards with 386 and is tied for the second most receiving touchdowns in the league with three. Also missing practice is rookie cornerback Dru Phillips who has started two of his three games played. Two players were limited in practice, including Pro-Bowl outside linebacker Brian Burns. Also limited was wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson who is New York’s second leading receiver.
