Seahawks don’t elevate practice squad players for Giants game

It’s Week 5 and that means it is time for the Seattle Seahawks to face off against the New York Giants, fresh off the first loss of the Mike Macdonald era.

There’s little time for the ‘Hawks to lament the loss, however, with the short turnaround following the Monday night game, and then an even shorter turnaround before taking on the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Week 6.

Even with Seattle set to face the Giants without first round pick Byron Murphy, the team did not turn to the practice squad for some extra depth up front against New York. This is the first time all season that the Seahawks have not used their two allotted weekly elevations, which is a good indication of the health of the team. Last week, Seattle elevated defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna and outside linebacker Tyus Bowser, who’s since signed with the Miami Dolphins. Bohanna will not play this week as rotational depth in Murphy’s absence.

Apart from Murphy, only Boye Mafe and Julian Love carry any game designations, and Love is expected to play despite being listed as questionable. This means the Seahawks will have either five or six healthy scratches when inactives are announced prior to kickoff on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Giants elevated running back Dante Miller and wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins. New York won’t have rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers due to a concussion, while starting back Devin Singletary is doubtful with a groin injury.
