Here are the top 25 colleges in NYC, according to U.S. News & World Report ranking

It’s not an easy decision to choose a college or university, but if you’re looking to stay in New York City, U.S. News & World Report recently released its 2025 Best Colleges guide to help students make an informed choice.

U.S. News ranked nearly 1,500 four-year bachelor’s degree-granting institutions in the United States using 17 ranking factors, such as graduation rates, borrower debt, standardized tests, student-faculty ration, financial resources for students, and more. Each indicator is assigned a weight based on U.S. News’ researched judgment about which measures of quality matter most. The colleges are then ranked based on their overall scores.

More than 130 four-year institutions are located in New York state — the most of any state in the United States. Dozens of colleges are within the State University of New York (SUNY) and City University of New York (CUNY) systems, two of the largest public university systems in the country. It means many of the top colleges are located in New York City, throughout the five boroughs.
