The Big Apple’s Most Instagrammable Landmarks Revealed

Central Park has been crowned the most Instagram-worthy location in New York City, with more than 8.76 million posts celebrating its scenic beauty and cultural significance.

This iconic green space, a National Historic Landmark since 1962, has starred in more than 230 films, including Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) and 13 Going on 30 (2004).

Westgate New York Grand Central Hotel has conducted a study analysing Instagram posts tagged at key NYC landmarks, revealing the top ten most picturesque locations.

Taking second place is the dazzling Times Square, with over 5.39 million posts. Known for its neon lights, massive billboards, and lively atmosphere, Times Square is one of the world’s busiest pedestrian areas, drawing approximately 330,000 visitors daily. Despite occupying only 0.1% of the city’s land area, it accounts for 15% of New York City’s economic output.

In third place, with 5.31 million posts, is the Empire State Building. The towering Art Deco masterpiece has long been a symbol of the city, offering unparalleled views from its observation decks. Recognised as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers, this landmark continues to attract millions of visitors each year.

Fourth on the list is the Brooklyn Bridge, boasting 3.94 million posts. This iconic structure, connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn since 1883, offers stunning views of the city’s skyline and the East River. The bridge has become a popular spot for walking tours, cruises, and even helicopter rides.

Fifth place is held by the Chrysler Building, a beloved piece of New York’s skyline with 2.68 million posts. A favourite of New York architects, it is often cited as one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the city. The New York Times once called it “the most significant symbol of architectural imagery on the New York skyline.”

The Statue of Liberty ranks sixth with 2.46 million posts. Standing tall as a beacon of freedom, Lady Liberty has long been one of America’s most cherished symbols, commemorating the end of slavery and welcoming immigrants from around the world.

In seventh place is the Top of the Rock, with 1.69 million posts. This famous observation deck at 30 Rockefeller Plaza offers breathtaking views of the city and was under construction when the iconic Lunch atop a Skyscraper photo was taken.

Bryant Park, known for its beautiful gardens and relaxed atmosphere, takes eighth place with 1.43 million posts. This Midtown haven is a popular spot for seasonal activities, including outdoor dining and free ice skating in winter.

In ninth place, with 1.16 million posts, is the Rockefeller Center, renowned for its annual Christmas tree and ice skating rink. The complex of 19 commercial buildings, commissioned by the Rockefeller family, is a hub of both business and leisure.

Rounding off the top ten is Madison Square Garden, with over 1.01 million posts. This legendary venue, hosting everything from professional sports to world-class concerts, continues to be a favourite among locals and tourists alike.

A spokesperson for Westgate New York Grand Central Hotel shared insights on the findings: “The city that never sleeps can be overwhelming, but Midtown East offers a perfect balance. Visitors can explore landmarks like the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, and Rockefeller Center, all within walking distance, or relax at rooftop bars like St. Cloud, enjoying panoramic views of Times Square without the crowds.”

They also highlighted the convenience of staying near Grand Central Terminal: “Being so close to Grand Central allows easy access to many of the city’s attractions without excessive walking, and the terminal itself is worth exploring, with hidden gems waiting to be discovered.”

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned New Yorker, these Instagrammable landmarks provide endless opportunities to capture the magic of the Big Apple.
