Spirit Halloween is opening a Christmas store in Poughkeepsie: Here’s when, what to expect

Halloween is still a few weeks away, but retailers are already thinking of the holiday season.

Poughkeepsie is one of 10 locations in the country where Spencer’s Spirit Holdings — the parent company to Spirit Halloween — is opening pop-up Spirit Christmas shops this fall.

The Poughkeepsie location will be opening in the Chestnut Plaza at 2020 South Road, where there’s already a Spirit Halloween store.

Customers will be able to shop for items like stocking stuffers, holiday apparel, gifts and decorations, as well as take a photo and have a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, according to their official website.

Spirit Christmas: Where you’ll find Spirit Halloween’s new holiday stores

Spirit Holdings PR director Nikki Bates said in an email statement that Spirit Christmas is a new concept for the company.

“Our goal is to create a festive retail experience that captures the spirit of the season, much like we do for Halloween,” she said.

The 10 locations for Spirit Christmas are all in the Northeast, across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. The Poughkeepsie location is one of three in New York:

  • Albany, New York: Colonie Center, 131 Colonie Center
  • Bohemia, New York: Sayville Plaza, 5181 Sunrise Highway
  • Brick Township, New Jersey: Market Place at Brick 465 NJ-70
  • Dartmouth, Massachusetts: Faunce Corner Shopping Center, 65 Faunce Corner Mall Road
  • Erie, Pennsylvania: Mill Creek Mall, 345 Millcreek Mall Blvd.
  • Marlton, New Jersey: Willow Ridge, 740 Route 73 South
  • Mays Landing, New Jersey: Consumer Square, 230 Consumer Square
  • Poughkeepsie, New York: Chestnut Plaza, 2020 South Road
  • Waterford, Connecticut: Crystal Mall, 850 Hartford Turnpike
  • Woodbridge, New Jersey: The Plaza at Woodbridge, 675 U.S. Highway 1 South

When is Spirit Christmas store opening in Poughkeepsie?

The flagship location is the May’s Landing store in New Jersey, which is opening shockingly early on Oct. 18. All the other locations, including Poughkeepsie, will be opening in mid-November.

Besides shopping for an assortment of Christmas-themed items, customers will also be able to wander through a life-sized gingerbread village. There kids can mail their letter to Santa at the North Pole and find out whether they are on the naughty or nice list.

When meeting Santa, patrons will be able to pose for their annual Christmas card photo and receive a free digital postcard. Stores are also offering the option to book your spot ahead of time.
