NFL analyst sees Jets in line to acquire highly-coveted WR prior to deadline | Sporting News
Trades don’t usually happen in the NFL at this point in the week, but that doesn’t mean wide receiver Davante Adams won’t soon land on the New York Jets‘ roster.
Adams will reportedly miss a second straight game for the Las Vegas Raiders while he nurses a hamstring injury. With the former All-Pro apparently preferring to leave Las Vegas, there are no shortage of hypothetical trades floating around cyberspace and the majority of them have Adams rejoining quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
It makes sense when connecting the dots. The Jets need a spark on offense, and Adams has always had a great rapport with Rodgers. The idea of New York trading for Adams has existed ever since Rodgers arrived, but it has gone from pipe dream to real possibility in recent weeks.
The Big Lead‘s Max Weisman identified five potential landing spots for Adams prior to the NFL trade deadline. In addition to the Jets, Wesiman highlighted the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens. New York is the current favorite according to a multitude of oddsmakers.

Outside of Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, Jets’ wide receivers have totaled 14 catches over the first five weeks. The addition of Adams would only make things easier for the quarterback.
Adams won’t be in uniform for the Jets when they face the Buffalo Bills in a Monday Night Football matchup on October 14, but it may not be long after that.
“The Jets need something to fire up their fan base. The organization fired head coach Robert Saleh Tuesday after Saleh posted a 20-36 record in three seasons and change. The Jets are 2-3 following a 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions in the loss, tying a career-high. Rodgers still hasn’t thrown over 300 yards in a game since 2021.
Trading for Adams makes a lot of sense for the Jets. It would add another offensive weapon to Rodgers’ arsenal, and one he is already familiar with, having spent eight years in Green Bay together. It was with Rodgers throwing to him that Adams set career highs in receiving yards and touchdowns.”
